About Winchester Web Scene
Winchester Web Scene was formed by Syd Lawrence in 2008 as a way of connecting local people with a common interest in the internet. Syd had previously been part of the Cardiff Web Scene, and was disappointed that there was no similar group in Winchester, so decided to start one.
The first meetup was in October 2008. Since then more and more people met on the first Monday of every month, and it has grown to attract up to 30 people to each meetup. New people join every month, making us a dynamic and vibrant group.
Sometimes people give demos of things that interest them, or things they've been working on recently. Sometimes people collaborate on projects, so it's a great place to find someone to work with, as well as just to meet and get to know people who are passionate about the web.
We have met at the Bishop on the Bridge, The Albion, The Westgate, The Hyde Tavern, and we're currently at The Cornerhouse. We will continue to change venue as appropriate to suit our changing needs. This website will always show the date and location of the next meetup, and notices will be sent out via Twitter and the email notification list.
