Promoting, Connecting & Inspiring local web talent - Winchester Web Scene

Awesome new website!!

Syd phoned me up yesterday to ask if i fancied a bit of coffee-fuelled coding! "I was thinking ... shall we make a new website for Winchester Web Scene?" I didn't need long to consider it ... "DEFINITELY!"

So the two of us met at the Bridge Patisserie at 3pm today. 3 cappucinos, a latte and an americano later and this bright new website was up and running. It uses Zest, a CMS framework from Marmalade on Toast, and Campaign Monitor for the email subscription and notifications.

Syd did all the design, HTML and CSS, plus the integration with Google Maps, Flickr and Twitter. I used the API to fetch members from Campaign Monitor and turn them into gravatars. Now we just need to post some events, take some pictures and write some blog posts!

Tweet with the hashtag #winchesterweb to get on the twitter sidebar, and stay tuned for event announcements! :)

News site looks good, but in my Firefox the mailing list submit button is only half visible!

Syd, the same is true for me too, with Firefox in Ubuntu. If you remove the CSS height property of .button or increase it from 16px to 24px then it looks good.
